Fuck Yeah Queer Latin@s

Disclaimer: If you try to come at me with reverse racist crap, trust me, it’s a waste of your time. You will be automatically be blocked/deleted and you will not get a reply. Move on.Also, let me take the time to assert that this is MY space and MY space ONLY as a QPOC. So white people—queer or not—you don’t get to dominate conversation here. Take a seat. I know, it’s hard, but don’t worry. You can do it.Positive, respectful, not “I don’t mean to offend you BUT” comments are welcome.Okay. So. Although I have some great allies (white, cis, etc.) I am really tired of seeing the majority of the queer/trans* community, movement, etc. being entirely white. And the majority of publications, resources, groups, etc. cater to white people with no thought about how my experience/culture/ethnicity/race might be different from theirs. And I’m NOT satisfied with being the token QPOC.It doesn’t help that I work in one of the most racially segregated cities ever. Regardless… look at stats. QTPOC are the ones at risk for the most unemployment, harassment, suicide, murder, etc. And those systemic/institutional causes must be addressed within the queer community at large. You can’t just keep telling us we’ll deal with it later. Or stop bringing up race. For us, it’s not a choice. And for a lot of us (particularly TWOC) it’s a matter of life and death.I carry my share of privilege within the QPOC community. However, these opinions are based on my own personal experiences. I want to see more people like me in safe, open, queer spaces.
